Drama Project Research and Notes

There are many Drama films which come in to mind when thinking about them, classics such as Titanic, The Godfather, Shawshank and Forest Gump, or more recent films such Dark Knight, The Departed and The Hunger Games. Our first idea was based on a guy waking up and addressing the camera, he then would introduce himself to the audience and then talk about something that annoys him, he would then make his way to the kitchen still talking to the camera. He would then start making his breakfast with a brew, and realise that he was ran out of milk and butter, this would annoy him and he would need to have a cigarette which to he notices he has ran out of them and also tobacco. He then leaves the house and starts walking to his mates house, still ranting about life to the camera, a kid will run in to him which makes him start talking about how people should raise their kids. When arriving at his mates, his mate is not there, but his girlfriend who jokes around saying he should not smoke, through his frustration he starts a row with her and walks off. At this point he could not get more frustrated, he is livid. He finally gets a cigarette by asking a stranger in the street, as he goes to light it he gets a phone call saying his mother has either been diagnosed with lung cancer or that she has been put in hospital, so its a extremely shocking ending, at this point after the whole film of him wanting a cigarette he drops it and walks/jogs off. This was are main idea until our actor decided he could not act, so we had to come up with a different plan. The second idea we had was about a murder, the tention would build and build, the audience would not see the killers face at first, but gradually they would. The conversation would consist of Luke's character saying that he trusted the guy who has a bag over his head who we named 'Chris' it would be a torture scene as he would first threaten Chris, punch him around a bit then stab him with a small knife, before stabbing him with a machette. He then will drag him out of the celler in to a car, which he will drive to a street and dump him at the side of the road, then speed off. We have a fantastic location, which is Luke's basement so it would make the film look extremely good, we also wanted to use Luke's Canon 7D so it is all in HD, making the basement extremely detailed.
